The following chart represents the value per head sold at Norton Livestock for each of the quarters presented. We have taken the gross dollar value divided by the number of head sold (a mix of cows, pairs, calves, feeder cattle, etc.). This results in a broad trend line of cattle prices at the local market. Caution: This data is not comparable from sale barn to sale barn as the mix of cattle may vary significantly. Furthermore, the mix of cattle sold varies from quarter to quarter.

Most Recent Week's Market Report and Commentary
October 2, 2025. The cattle market isn’t “ringing the bell” everyday like it was in this big run up of price but we’re in a pretty good place. Calf crops off the cow brought $2,100 to $2,400 this week. Feeder steers are close to steady, but feeder heifers have backed up more, maybe $15 cwt. in the last couple of weeks. Weigh up stock is steady in price. Busy time of year coming up. Stay rested and safe.
