The following chart represents the value per head sold at Norton Livestock for each of the quarters presented. We have taken the gross dollar value divided by the number of head sold (a mix of cows, pairs, calves, feeder cattle, etc.). This results in a broad trend line of cattle prices at the local market. Caution: This data is not comparable from sale barn to sale barn as the mix of cattle may vary significantly. Furthermore, the mix of cattle sold varies from quarter to quarter.
Most Recent Week's Market Report and Commentary
October 15, 2026. Some nice rain fell around the area Wednesday evening and early Thursday, making our receipts light this week. We did, however, sell a light test on every class of cattle, and they met good demand. Seems like we have been in a steady market here on the board for a while, and the cash market shows some good optimism. We are lining up a nice calf and feeder sale for next week. There will be a good number of double-vaccinated calves on this sale. Call us to consign.
